The Dilemna of Political Christians Pt. 1 - Christ's Methods

The assassination of Charlie Kirk, the Christian founder of Turning Point USA & Republican Party Activist, has unreeled a tense atmosphere of emotional disdain for his works and views from a large number of the masses which also includes political opponents. The almost celebratory spirit & indifference to his passing is fueled by cultural, racial & political differences. Thousands of video posts highlighting his controversial statements are published. In many of his videos Mr. kirk recommends Christian principles that he believes are missing from America's Moral landscape; attributing the lack of such to the current ills that the United States is faced with. His positions are indicative of his stance with the Christian Nationalist Ideology wherein he stood center point. Simultaneously, with his TPUSA outreach projects in colleges, stands in greater proportion, his staunch advocacy and support of the current president Donald Trump; thus, deriving even greater popularity. For the engaged public and the concerned Christians the question arises: Does the cocktail of public Christian advocacy mixed with political alignment represent the approach of Jesus Christ in reaching the world? The duality of political - Christian entwinement is not limited to charlie kirk as many popular charismatic evangelical Christian pastors embrace this approach including Lance Wallnau and Bill Johnson the authors of the book- "Invading Babylon."

All who hold themselves as Christ's disciples are espoused to follow the principles that he has laid out for the evangelization of the world. Zeal for God's glory is a necessary virtue, but this zeal must be regulated by a correct interpretation of God's word. How did Christ evangelize the world? Did he minister to the people in the highways and byways to then be found at Herods political meetings endorsing him to the people? When Christ was brought before Pontius Pilate and then before Herod, did his tie to any of these leaders prevent him from reaching the cross? Christ's political unalignment was testified to in scriptures when the Pharisees and Sadducees came sharing that Herod desired to kill him, Christ response in Luke 13:32 was:

"Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third [day] I shall be perfected. Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the [day] following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem."

If Christ and the leader at that time were in one accord, there would be no such dialogue, If Christ were aligned to Herod or Pilate then one would have delivered Him. One of Jesus's most conclusive statement on settling the question and negating the ambitions of Christian Nationalists was given to the leader Pontius Pilate:

"Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence."  John 18:36 KJV

Those who are seeking to establish Christ's kingdom on earth through allegiance to and close political associations are working contrary to Him who said  "I go to prepare a place for you" John 14:2-3 KJV. "I go to prepare a place for you" is the word but modern Christians are trying to prepare a place for God on earth. It is a people that are to be called out & educated to be in Christs kingdom by His pure church and not corrupted channels. If modern Christians continue along this line contrary to the word of God, then it must be another god they are preparing to receive.

According to Encyclopedia Britannica, Christian Nationalism is "an ideology that seeks to create or maintain a legal fusion of the Christian religion with a nation's character. Advocates of Christian Nationalism consider their view of Christianity to be an integral part of their country's identity and want the government to promote - or even enforce - the religions position within it."  In Charles Kettering Foundation's report titled - "Project 2025 The Blueprint for Christian Nationalist Regime Change" 1  establishes a link with project 2025 and Christian Nationalism. The President of the Heritage Foundation (Project 2025 Authors) Kevin Roberts stated according to the report: "We are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be." Their intent is to have America as place run by biblical principles. The positions taken by this initiative are contrary of the first amendment of the US constitution that states:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." 2

The fulfillment of this initiative will result in religious favouritism and ultimately the suppression of other minorities and opposers; the history of the dark ages dictates that. Charlie Kirk showed his alignment with these initiatives when he endorsed the "The Seven Mountain Mandate."3 a theology promoted by charismatic leaders that calls on Christians to take dominion over key spheres of society: government, education, media, family, business, arts & religion." One of the forming members of the SDA church in her writings gave her reasons at the time why political involvement of its members cannot be encouraged:

"Their principles and positions in political matters are a great hindrance to their spiritual advancement. These are a constant snare to them and a reproach to our faith, and those who retain these principles will eventually be brought just where the enemy would be glad to have them, where they will be finally separated from Sabbathkeeping Christians. These brethren cannot receive the approval of God while they lack sympathy for the oppressed colored race and are at variance with the pure, republican principles of our Government. God has no more sympathy with rebellion upon earth than with the rebellion in heaven, when the great rebel questioned the foundation of God’s government and was thrust out with all who sympathized with him in his rebellion.  Testimonies to the Church Vol 1, pg 534.1

When the people desired to make Christ king in Israel the response is found in John 6:14-15:

"When Jesus perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him king, he departed again in to a mountain himself alone."

Christ triumphal entry into Jerusalem was not an indication that he desired earthly power, the proclamations of "hosanna to the sun of David" was already prophesied in Zechariah 9:9

" Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion; shout, O Daughter of Jerusalem; behold, the king cometh unto thee; he is just, and having salvation: lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass."

The evidence of the salvation he came to bring and not earthly-secular power was seen round about him through the very subjects who benefitted from h]His healing touch & His offerings of grace. The book Desire of Ages renders a graphic scene for the mind to capture:

"But about the Saviour were the glorious trophies of His labors of love for sinful man. There were the captives whom He had rescued from Satan’s power, praising God for their deliverance. The blind whom He had restored to sight were leading the way. The dumb whose tongues He had loosed shouted the loudest hosannas. The cripples whom He had healed bounded with joy, and were the most active in breaking the palm branches and waving them before the Saviour. Widows and orphans were exalting the name of Jesus for His works of mercy to them. The lepers whom He had cleansed spread their untainted garments in His path, and hailed Him as the King of glory." pg 573

Such is the Kingdom of Jesus on earth through works of mercy, acts of kindness and words of sympathy, practical godliness in coming close to the needs of men and not the enactments from earthly powers to obtain a better society.

"The enemy knows that if the church can be controlled by political enactments, if she can be led to unite with the world, she virtually acknowledges him as her head. Then the authority of man-made commandments will work to oppose the rule of government of heaven."-Signs of the Times 11/22/1899
